There are around 200 images in this guide, please be aware that it may take awhile to load!
Welcome to my Guide, if this is your first time it is recommending you read on as this guide currently houses 38 different guides for various things in Zero.
Important: I have finished lowing image-quality for faster loading. The file sizes for the images has gone from 5.55MB to 1.72MB (since written gone up to 4.66mb at low quality still). Thank you for your patience.
Attention: I have started a website based off this guide, it is called the Zero3000 Database. To view the current progress click here! this hasn't been updated in awhile, but I will get around to it.
Attention: Some Images may be outdated, however, most if not all will be similar to the newer image and hence don't need replacement. If you do find an image completly outdated please inform me in this thread.
Attention: Please be aware of the mass amout of images in this thread, I will have an image free notepad version created for Dial-Up users when I feel I am finished here.
Also please be aware this guide was made in late Alpha, subtile changes such as NPC names could have happened since then (Such as the Spacecraft Mission handler).
Contact Me:
If you wish to contact me in-game my characters are Timmy and Bane (Moon server), I will likely be happy to help you with anything if i'm not busy biggrin.gif. I'm normally on GMT+10, as it's the school holidays i'm on alot more.

TIP: Rather then skimming through this you should be able to press your "Ctrl" and "F" keys together and get a search box in your browser, try searching for the desired guide(s) with the "Code" below.
"Codes" use the - on both sides so that you don't have to scroll through hundreds of words with that particular set of letters and cause navigational pain, keep this in mind when seaching.
Note: Areas with a * are either new or not what I consider "finished".
Note 2: Areas with a ** lack the amount of images that I deem helpful.

Storyline and Background Information:

Every online game has a story, even if it is hardly relative to the type of game or isn't complete, the story is what builds a game, why would you want to play a game where you simply fight monsters and kill players for no reason? In most games the monsters are being controlled/mutated or many other things to actually make them "monsters" and rouge players are simply pirates or bandits.
In Zero the story is goes back years from the current age and uses those elements to forge the story today. I have simply copied the story from the main website and fixed some grammer errors:
Prologue:
Generations have passed since faith ruled man and man ruled machine. After the Universal War, religion seemed to simply disappear. Man turned to science to fill the void left by spirituality. In this new and sterile philosophy, skepticism is revered while belief is admonished. Survival of the fittest has left the realm of the physical to be overthrown completely by the intellectual. It was in this way that in this era, the most aporetic and rigorous minds have risen to power and man and machine exist in nearly complete symbiotic coexistence.

For generations now, Earthlings have spread the seeds of civilization to the corners of the galaxy, founding settlements on planets that could support life and robotic mining colonies on planets that could not. The humans searched for extraterrestrial life on the planets but finding none, continued to extend themselves into the far reaches of space. No one truly knows why, after nearly a century of unhindered expansion, an obstacle has suddenly arisen. Whether it was interference with the qubit encoded programming of the unmanned mining colonies, or anonymous alien interception still remains unclear. Through the agony and chaos of the recent upheaval, Earth and her interstellar progeny have only uncovered these seven letters: O-T-H-E-L-L-O.
What is Othello?
The argument for alien interruption is wrought with as much skepticism as optimism. For decades humans have expanded throughout the farthest reaches of the galaxy and for centuries have probed galactic and intergalactic space. In the past millennium scientists have reassured the populous of the existence of extraterrestrial life over and over again; all theories, experiments and tests show that non-human intelligent life must exist somewhere out in the universe. The chance to make such a significant discovery, however unlikely, is bound to eventually happen. Nonetheless, the overwhelming reality is that human interstellar navigation is still in its infancy. So every time something unexplained happens on the rims of galactic civilization, there will always be those who attribute it to aliens. Othello falls into this theory as popularly as any other, that is to say, Othello is a computer hacking alien race.

Another popular theory is that Othello is simply the ghost in the machine, a form of artificial intelligence extant in the fecundity of silicon crystals of unknown chemistry and origin. This theory somewhat borders on the non-human intelligent life theory, except that the former is usually associated with carbon based life forms whilst the latter employs a silicon base. Proponents of this theory are mostly curious computer engineers and graduate students whose thoughts linger in the higher echelons of advanced experimental quantum theory.

There are, of course, a minority of conspiracy theorists who claim Othello to be a secret faction of the Earth Alliance Government, though no one takes these ideas too seriously. This minority of paranoid skeptics only slightly out number those who believe Othello is God, coming for vengeance on an arrogant race from where he was so recently expelled. These statistical outliers are largely ignored by the body politic and wholly ignored by mainstream media.

The most popular theory however is by far the most likely: Othello is the name of a guerrilla terrorist organization; a colony of forgotten space travelers lost on a distant rock. This theory is the result of the rational and scientific majority, whom still employ the wisdom of the ancients: ¡°All things being equal, the simplest solution tends to be the right one.¡± Without any other proof of non-human interference it stands to reason that the problem is internal to the human race.
Recent Changes...
Whatever explanation you believe to be true, the fact remains that Othello is a liability that can not be underestimated. Since the first attacks on Earth Alliance outposts in the long arms of known galactic space, no one and no place can be said to be safe from attack. Objectively speaking, these occurrences of terror and destruction haven`t been entirely detrimental for human existence. As the interstellar war increases in intensity so does interplanetary trade. The war has reinvigorated a population that has, in recent generations, begun to stagnate. The hopelessness and desperation of a race complacent in their automated and luxurious lives has found a cause to unite behind. The survival instincts buried beneath so many layers of hedonism has finally been awaken, as a result the war effort has also boosted technological development. Yet, with new technology, new materials are needed and in greater numbers. When Othello`s minions attack and destroy a mining colony or manufacturing plant on some distant planet, the effect is felt all across the galaxy all the way down to Mother Earth. Othello has perturbed the human world on every level and in doing so has become the archetype of terror.
Job Openings...
Othello`s seemingly unfettered ability to reprogram once friendly and obedient robots and machines has created a superstition among the human race. Only machines that are not networked and incapable of full automation have not been dismantled. This has led to the reintroduction of battle mechs; powerful, fast and accurate as a machine, but with a human pilot there is no danger of Othello corrupting the machines circuits and turning the machine against mankind. Independent of the government, mechanized mercenaries have become rampant among the galaxy. With no official affiliations, they sometimes cooperate to battle Othello`s minions, and sometimes fall at odds battling each other. As these space cowboys grow in number, famous heroes and infamous outlaws exhibit the very best and worst of human nature, attracting those unsatisfied with their bourgeois existence to seek the freedom and adventure of mercdom. Those motivated few, scrape together what money they can in order to purchase a basic walker unit; just enough to get them off-planet. In the free market interstellar economy, competition is fierce and in the big empty vacuum of space, only the laws of physics apply.

(Code: -SPC-)

Spacecraft quests offer many rewards, such as EXP, gold, and items.
Each quest is different in it's own way, though on most you just kill a set amount of monsters. In Zero these quests are the basic "storyline" of the game, including battles against both the alien force know as Othello and the Cyndia Pirates.

Currently there is one level 60-100 quest, this is very helpful for getting up to level 100 and learning the basics of the spacecraft concept. And a variety of 120+ quests with greatly varying rewards.
I will only explain in the section (for now) how to sign up and what happens when it's time to go. However soon I will add each quest with a walkthrough and the prizes

To sign up for a spacecraft missions go to steelwarship (You do know where that is... right?),
from thier click the navigation button at the top-right near your minimap and choose "spacecraft" from the list, currently as there is only one NPC you may lag, but that doesn't really matter.
When you arrive click the pink NPC named "LiaisonOfficerVenone" with the title "FreedomExpeditionaryFleet" above her head. Obviously you should choose "sign up".
Image of "LiaisonOfficerVenone" (NOTE: She is now named "Venny"):

Now a simple interface appears, find a mission for your level gap, such as "BlowTheManDown" for level 60-100, (This mission can only hold 10 people, so you might not make it in time to sign up!)
Another window should pop up (Or if it's already up it will change the mission details to what we want)
For now just click the big "Join" button, if you meet all the requirements and there is a space seat you will be signed up.
Now towards the left of your screen a timer appears, this could be anything, but let's say 22:00, this means you must wait for 20 minutes before the mission starts!
Example Timer:

You can do anything except log-off for those 20 minutes, but make sure your back at the sign-up place before the timer counts down to 2:00. This is set in the game so that if your to far away you will be kicked so that another player may have a chance to play.
You will be warped to a spacecraft room, along with your fellow players that signed up.
The time the spacecraft takes to reach it's journey is different for each mission, normally less then 2 minutes however.
View of the "Spacecraft":

When you reach the missions map a small time indication and percent bar will appear, throughout the mission you must keep an eye on these.
Mission Status Indicators:

There is also a kill counter to help you see many monsters you have killed.
Image of Kill Count (Click Percent Bar to show it):

When the mission is 100% complete you must return to the captain of the mission (Sometimes the 100% bar is bugged!!) in most missions you can use the navigation button to return to the captain (Be careful of the monsters though xD).
Talk to him, (Sometimes thier are multipul NPC's) and choose missions complete. You will recieve your reward and be teleported out. Yay you finished your first mission!

(Code: -CRS-)

Not many games use more then one Currency that is free for players to pick up and that isn't tradable. But often if they do it is quite rewarding for all players. Rewards can be anything like a Shopping Mall similar to the ones that you spend buyable in-game Currency on, to free EXP, hair changes, avatars and other prizes.
In Zero Crystals are another form of currency; though you can't actually trade crystals (Unless you kill a boss and get a Crystal pack) they are used to buy items from a special store.
An Example Crystal Count (I just upgraded my Battle Stars xD):

Pink Crystals:
Are the most common dropping from level 67 monsters and above (TigerTanks) and are needed the most, you can buy the best sets of ammo from the crystal shop (Explained below, later) for 15,000 of them. You can also (Up untill a certain level, I think 129 as you then pay Blues) buy 5% for that current level for a set price, this may seem horribly overpriced but it's actually quite good for levels such as the xx9 level.
Blue Crystals:

You get these from killing level 137+ monsters, they are better then the Pink variety, however much more harder to acumulate. 888 of these will let you buy a double EXP potion from the crystal shop, this will last for 15 minutes (Unless you have an Auxilary program). And you can buy new avatars for 6,000.
Purple Crystals:
From player knowledge these crystals don't drop from monsters, from what I have heard you can win these from the PK tourney and from the mentoring system. Obviously they are much better then ethier the Pink or Blue crystals, as I am yet to get any I don't know what they can be spent on.
Crystal Trader:
You can trade Purple crystals for Blue or Pink Crystals and Blue crystals for Pink Crystals at the Crystal Trader "Hanner" under steelwarships Marriage/Fleet/Misc navigation option and then "Crystal Dealer".
She will trade 1 Blue Crystal for 100 Pink Crystals, 1 Purple Crystal for 100 Blue Crystals and 1 Purple Crystal for 10,000 Pink Crystals.
Crystal Shop:

The crystal shop is likely the most used area for all crystals, offering cheap and plentiful ammunition, double-exp potions, unique avatars and 5% exp for your current level.
However before you have access to the crystal shop you must first unlock the "keys" to it. This is done by opening the crystal shop button and paying 15, 000 Pink Crystals for each "key", you must unlcok all "keys" before the shop is accessible, however as an added bonus you get plenitiful EXP for each "key" you unlock (This should be done as soon as you can, the EXP is obviously more helpful at lower levels.
View of crystal shop:

(Code: -POTN-)

Potency offers many bonus's such as extra EXP and help in PVP. Potency is a ranking system of sorts, The higher your potency to another player the better you will fair in a fight with them. Potency if affected by many things, this includes:
Gear Quality: Obviously the better your gear's quality the more potency you will recieve from it.
Gear Level: With every gear that is up to the maximum level you can handle, you get 1 potency, with 2-handed weapons you get 2 potency (As you obviously don't get a shield).
Gear Bonus: +'ing gear will get that equivilent in potency, a +3 Armor will gain you 3 potency.
Gear Sockets: For every socket in your gear you will recieve an additional 1(?) potency point.
Gems: Every super gem can offer potency, potency gems also straight out offer potency as a reward for socketing aswell.
Level: Your level equivilent will be added to your potency, this includes funnels.
Mentor: If you have a mentor online, depending on thier level you will gain potency.
Militry Rank:For every rank you go up you will recieve one potency.
Example Potency Button:

Potency Calculation Screen (Press Potency Button):

(Code: -STAR-)

Note: Battle Stars are now called CAP but I will continue to call them Battle Stars as I am familar with them and most players know them as this. Battle stars can be obtained from level 130+, Battle stars increase your HP, Defence, EN power, Internal Cabin, Power and Intellegence points.
Image of Battle Star Count (Displayed above character):

At an increasing cost per star of crystals (At first only Pink, and then Blue aswell, and then purple later on), you may wish to use "Polymeric Crystals" while upgrading, these dramatically reduce the cost of crystals needed, however they can get quite costly at around 200k for the first version. Each battle star also adds 1 potency, and each ARM can have thier own Battle Star count.
To upgrade your Stars simply navigate to "CAP" under the "Marriage/Fleet/Misc" on your navigation menu in SteelWarship. Talk to the NPC "CaptainGorden" and choose upgrade "CAP".
The following will appear:

Please Note: This is after the "Input" button was pressed, which inputs the current Mech your using and after a Polymetric crystal was put into place, which has it's function explained above.
After pressing "Input" the amount of crystals are shown.
*Currently at higher Battle Star levels there are text errors such as in mine, Amethest should be Sapphire/Blue.
If you can't afford this then by placing a polymetric crystal in the box below your mech will reduce the cost, you can obtain higher level Polymetrics by talking to "Edgar" beside "CaptainGorden", to obtain a higher level Polymetric you simply need 3 of the lower level one. EG: 80 Polymetric requires 3x 70 Polymetric. If you meet all the requirments you can press OK and upgrade your Stars.

(Code: -COR-)

Cores come in all shapes and varietys, from 20 cells to 4 cells, the smaller the core the more you can have. Cores offer many different supportive functions, these are broken into two different catergorys:
Cores now have the status of both the main and auxilary programs to help those less experienced understand how powerful said core is. These include High-Quality and Perfect. High-Quality deems the core very useful and normally is a good core to buy, perfect means that the function cannot be improved anymore (eg: 10 potency on a Mars core).
Main Program: The main program of a core is an important factor when making a core. Each different core type offers a different main program, these are as follows:

*Detection Core: Unlocks the radar function (Minimum 300 seconds to use again)
*Assault Core: Increases Attack Power (Maximum 10%)
*Iron Core : Increases unit defense (Maximum 10%)
*Super Energy Core: Increases Engine Power (Depends on Engine)
*Cyclone Core: Increases the jump time if thruster is equipped (70% Maximum)
Explosive Core: Increases Attack Power to normal units (+2000 Maximum)
Guardian Core: Decreases Attack Power by normal units (+2000% Maximum)
Sundering Core: Increases Attack Power to the transformed units (+2000% Maximum)
Shield Core: Decreases Attack Power by the transformed units (-2000% Maximum)
Mars Core: Increases the potency (Maximum 10)
War Core: Increases the potency, attack and defence (Maximum 10 Potency and 5 Attack and Defence)
The cores with a * represent that they can be equiped in the core slot below your weapons.
In addition to a simple figure displayed on a core the background will glow if it's rare, there are two levels of this glow and they are both easily reconised, basically the heavyier the glow the better.
Picture of a Defence, Attack and Cyclone core in respective order:

Auxilary Program:
These supportive programs can be or more or less help then the main program of a core, thier are many different programs such as increasing attack or defence to a specific group (Fleet/team/family) and some that disadvantage other players in pvp. Thier are programs to ID items and even some to help with the PK tourney. You can have a maximum of 4 per core, so make sure you choose the right programs when composing.
Tip: By navigating to the Core Synthesis NPC and choosing the "All Program" button you can view the maximum benifits of every Auxiliary Program.
Example of two Auxilary Programs:

Using Core Skills (Main and Auxilary):
For the most part skills from Cores you use are Auxilary Programs, but Detection Cores also use this system so I included it in the title. Firstly you must click your "skill" button:

Please note that the skill button may not look like that as you may have a skill selected, it is however in the same position.
After you do this a screen that looks like or is similar to this will appear:

All you need to do now is click the "Ability" tab, this will bring up all your Core skills. You may then either right-click one OR drag and drop it onto your hotkeys (recommended).
The picture of the skill will appear over the skill button and will be ready to use.
(Note: As an example GearScan requires you to right-click the Terrain/Ground before you use it to actually activate the skill).
Skill Cool-Down Time:
Most if not all Core skills also have a cool-down period in which you can't use the skill (the image of the skill will light back up in a clockwise fashion and when it's full you may use it again).
Example Cool-Down Timer:

Note: That is not a Core Skill but represents the same action.

ARM's(Automatic Replacment Mechs) are essentially additional unit's you may use, you can equip them/level them and switch to them (ALT+C or ALT+V). ARMs are very effective in PVP or general fighting by using different weapons on each ARM. As ARMs also have there own gear your Potency is effected by your ARM, allowing for potency to exceed 1000, even in some cases 2000!
In this section I will explain what ARMs you can aquire at what levels, what the advantages of each ARM is and help you decide what ARMs to keep.
Level 100 ARM:
At level 100 you can obtain your first ARM, this ARM will be more resistant to fire based attacks, the only downside to an ARM is when obtained they are level 1. Most players use this ARM to sign-up for the 60-100 quest as their main unit will soon be 101+ and there are no quests from 101-119.
Level 145 ARMs:
At level 145 (With your original unit or your first ARM) you can get a free ARM (Frost Resistant) and you can buy an Advanced ARM for 1 million gold (Much more Internal Cabin space + Resistant to Fire and Frost, by not as much as the actual ARMs for that).

From this you can see the main unit suffers compared the ARMs, however by now your main unit will be level 145 (OR around level 100 if you only leveled your Fire-Resistant Mech from level 100) so it's advantage is obviously levels.
If you know what your doing the best bet is to stop leveling your main unit at level 100 and just level your Fire-Resistant to 145 and clain the other two ARMs for the ultimate crew of Mechs. It is however not required to do this, compared to the Fire-Resistant and Frost-Resistant the main unit doesn't suffer much.
If this is your first Character your best sticking to your Main unit, Flame-Resistant Unit and Advanced Unit. (Flame-Resistant can be swaped out with Frost if you choose so).
In ANY case the Advanced unit is a must (Not compulsary, but a smart idea) as it has Resistance to both AND more Internal Cabin Space (Believe me that's VERY important, around an extra row then your main unit.. even at 141 when the main is 152!).
Internal Cabin Comparison:

I hope you choose the right set-up for you, but still recommend in any situation the Advanced ARM.
For those that want to know I'm, Main, Fire-Resistant and Advanced. I might check out my Frost now though, if it looks better why not?
Example of ARMs (Male Ranged Unit):

In most online games with social interaction there are address lists, they keep records of things suc as Friends and Enemys so that you don't have to remember them and so you know when they are online.
Your Address List in Zero contains all your relations with other players, the list includes the following:

Friends:
Over your time playing Zero your likely to make some friends, this is were your friends names are sorted, Showing both online and offline friends, you are allowed 50 friends (But don't worry you can delete some).
Mentor/Apprentice:
If you have a mentor or apprentices this is were they will be kept, you are allowed ONE mentor and TEN apprentices (Don't forget it!, You can delete them however, keeping in mind to rid yourself of a mentor costs 1.5kk, at the moment)
Enemy:
When you are killed the pricks that did it will be added here, keep this list as much as you can for revenge later biggrin.gif. You can delete enemys.
Note: Enemys won't be added if they only kill an ARM and your left with atleast one mech alive!
Business Partners:
Well obviously this is where your business partners are kept, after 3 days a business partner will be confirmed and added to the list, with business partners you can't obtain a "Stolen Item" tag on any item traded bettween you and your partner(s) you also don't have to confirm trade (make sure you choose the right people..)

Setting your mood is also a good feature in Zero, by simply clicking the "status" button on your address list window you can type what mood your in and it will be displayed below your name in the address lists. Notice in the image below in the friends list they are "In a good mood today", this is the default mood setting on log-in.

Composing is a great way to improve your weapons/armor and other equipables. Composing is basically getting 2 items with a super addition (+1, +2 etc.) and merging them with your current gear.
I advise that you only compose to items of Elite, Ultra, or some other great value like a sockable item (Able to have a gem socketed).

Composer:
You can find the NPC for compsoing by using your navigation (Up the top-right) highlighing "Market" and then choosing "Bonus Addition". When you choose the right NPC, Choose the first option. In the picture place your main item (The item you wish to add the addition) in the box with the 1, and the two already super additioned items in 2 and 3 and then hitting compose (Number 4). Your main item will now have a super addion.

That is the process of any addition, below is a more in-depth expalination for +1, +2 and +3 addition (We don't need to go to +4, +5, to +9 as it's exactly the same).
+1 Addition:
If you have an Elite (Let's say Armor) with no super addition you are able to add a +1 addition to it; by obtaining two "Armors" with a +1 super addition and then composing using the method above.
+2 Addition:
For +2 addition you only need two more items with a super addition of +1, so your main item will be "Elite Armor +1" and the two minor items will be "Armor +1", This is because if +2's were required how would you make them? You could find them but it would be alot of hassle.
+3 Addition:
+3 addition is using your main +2 item and using two more +2 items once again. From now onwards you require two items with the super addition lower then the next level and your main item to be so aswell. EG: +3, +3, +3 = +4.
Chomsky Particle:
What is a Chomsky Particle? Simply a substitute for a minor item in composing, EG: Main +1, Minor +1 and Chomsky Particle +1 will make you a Main +2. The + on the Particle is what level of composing it can be used in (+6 particle can be used to help make a +7 item).

(CODE: -SYN/SOC-)

Core Synthesis is the only way to improve your cores Auxilary and Main programs. While Core Socket will evidently allow you too socket a core with a gem.

Core Synthesis:
Costing a meteor you must think wisely about what you will sysnthesis. Synthesis allows you to compose two cores together, keeping the maximum main program of the two (IF one core has +2% attack and another +8% you will get a core with +8%) and allows you to choose which Auxilary programs you want to keep. So if you have an attack core with +2% attack and no auxilary programs it won't be worth the meteor to compose, will it? (Unless it has a socket or is small, etc).
To synthesis your cores simply go to SteelWarship and navigate to "Core Socket" under "Marriage/Fleet/Misc", it says core socket but this NPC does both meaning that you don't have to use the R&D button for socketing, but it is faster.
If you navigated to the NPC the dialog will automatically appear, you should then choose "Core Synthesis".
Below is the correct dialog you should have viewed if you navigated correctly:

Here is the Core Synthesis screen (Unfortunetly as I don't have a Meteor I can't put in the minor core):

Core Socket:
Core Socketing offers you the ability to socket a total of two gems to each core; by clicking the R&D button below your potency button and then clicking "detail" you can quickly bring up the core socketing screen.
As explained above in Core Synthesis there is an NPC who will do this aswell, I just thought I might mention if you have sufficent ZP's he will socket your core instantly.
Below is the R&D button:

This is the detail button you should press:

And this is the core socketing screen:

Putting the main core in the top-left square and the minor core (Can be any type of core!) in the bottom-right square and then click socket, this adds 20 points to the core socket process. The first socket requires 6000 points and the second 60, 000.
Please note that this can only be done in the market!

(CODE: -STA-)

The Status of your Mech is very important. The status bars mainly show your current HP, PW and EXP. In this section each important status will be included and it's function expalained.
XP and Thrusters have been included as they don't really deserve there own section (XP could be in a team section but it IS for soloing aswell).
Main Status Bars:

Health Bar (HP):
The Health Bar is the most important status bar in the game, if it reachs 0 your mech will die (Just the one mech, your ARMs will remain alive and take over). Keeping this bar above the 50% mark is your best option, by versing weaker monsters you have a better chance at this, or you could also just use Repair Kits to restore your HP.
Power Bar (PW):
The power bar is arguably the second most important staus bar in the game, this is because the EXP bar is also very useful. The Power Bar shows what your current power levels are, this is important for skills as most use a chunk to power the attack. The power bar will automatically restore over time, you can boost this with a SuperEnergyCore, however they can get expensive and just takes up your internal cabin space (unless you equip it below your weapons).
Experience (EXP):
Like the Power Bar the Experience Bar is arguably the second most important Status Bar in the game, why? Simply because it shows what percentage you are on to the next level, by being on 80.00% you require another 20.00% untill you level. Without this bar leveling would be very frustrating as you wouldn't know when you are about to level up.
Defence Field (DF):
At 133 you can Equip an Energy Sheild to obtain this Status Bar, this effectively adds defence for as long as the DF Bar is not empty. The DF bar will showly drain as you are hit by enemy's, but this is easily fixed by starnding somewhere that enemy's can't reach you.
Combat Mode (XP):
A very important Status (Not really a Bar, is it?), slowly as you do anything this will count from 0% to 100%, when it reachs 100% your XP skills will pop up just above your Potency button, by clicking one you can use it for the set time (Yes.. it's a bar, displayed on the left of the screen showing how long you can use the XP skill for). Xp skills are ALOT stronger then your main skills (Though when your at a higher level using an XP skill you got at level 1 instead of the one you got at level 60 sucks.. alot). Not only is this effective in solo leveling but if your in an active team your XP skills will be sync'd and you will all use them at the same time, at the end you will recieve more EXP then you would while soloing. Xp can't be used in the market and automatically gets cut off.
Thruster Count (Jump Power):
The Thruster is quite useful, although not displayed in the picture it is still counted in this section because I feel it should be mentioned. The Thruster percent is to the right of the main status bars and rather then use numbers or percent it simply uses a bar that depletes every jump you take (Ctrl+Left-Click). The Thruster will restore over time if you don't use it.
Ammunition (Ammo):
The Ammunition count is only for ranged units (as they use guns), certain skills use more ammo then others some more power and less ammo, some only ammo and no power and the rest evenly spread between power and ammo. From this you can see ammo is very important for ranged units as thier melee attack is very weak, but ammo is expensive at 50k for a small bundle. When you can take down level 67 monsters and get Pink Crystals you can buy the cheapest ammo in the Crystal Shop for 15, 000 of them. For a ranged unit ammunition is a very important "status" to keep an eye on.

(CODE: -HKEY-)

Hotkeys are very helpful, allowing for items or skills to be used at the hit of a F key. Hotkeys can also be right-clicked to have the function used (This is good for changing your current skill)
From the set-up below you can see that I can quickly tap F1 to use a repair kit and heal, With F2 I can quickly set my skill and then right-click to use it etc.

Setting items and skills to a hotkey is quite easy:
For Items:
Open your cabin and hold left-click on an item (Such as a repair kit) and "drag" it ontop of a hotkey. If there are 100 kits (Of the same type) total in your cabin that hotkey will be set to use them all as seen in the pervious picture.
For Skills:
Only slightly harder, if you want only skills for your current gun simply click the "skill" button as seen below:

And scroll to the skill you want then drag and drop like you did with the repair kit. If your unfamilar with the skill system and wish to know more the next section is dedicated to it.

(CODE: -SKL-)

The Skill system in Zero is easy to learn, and to use. The only problem players sometimes have is buying skills, when doing this you must take note on which weapon you are buying from, looking at the screenshot below you can see that the skills displayed are "Flame Gun" skills.
Buying skills simply requires gold or Crystals, however if you don't have a good source of income for your character (EG: alternate Character) it can be quite hard to buy skills when you hit the level they are avaliable from, with repair kits, equipment repair, even ammunition for Ranged units.
Generally there are however specific skills for each weapon that you don't really need, this changes to your preference but an example for a Flamegun is that you truely only need "DoomSkyFire" and "Conflagation". But as they are high level skills you may need to buy earlier skills to help you.

Every online game that is constantly updated has quests, quests simply keep players attracted to the game with rewards such as Currency, Items or EXP. Quests also build a storyline in most games by having NPCs relate to each other and having you defeat monsters for specific reasons.
In Zero Material Quests are one of the best ways to level from 27 to 127. By simply hunting monsters your level you can obtain a specific quest item several times (EG: Level 127 quest's "Pulse Sword"). Material Quests tie losely to the main story of Zero by talking about the wars with Othello and Cyndia Pirates, they are repeatable from level 47+ and so have no bearing upon the story.
Image of Material and other Regional Quests:

To complete this quest you can simply use the navigation button at the top-right of the screen and click the correct level area the item is from (As "Pulse Swords" are obtained from the 127 monsters you would simply navigate to the 127 area from the menu).

Not only can you receive EXP by retrieving items like this but you can trade 2 in for specific unique gear, ammunition and other things.
Also at these training spots you can do other quests, they involve killing small amounts of monsters for Gold, then a larger amount for EXP and then a Boss for you choice of a Unique item for that level or EXP.
Other quests are to kill wanted criminals, they will each give you a free choice of unique items for that level, sometimes even a specific Elite item.

(CODE: -NAV-)

Navigation is an important feature in any game and considered standard for most online games, as otherwise most players would become lost and likely quit.
Zero Online uses a free Minimap and Area Map for location and also has a free "Auto-Pilot" system as a key navigational feature. These are outlined below.
Auto-Pilot:
Auto-Pilot is a very useful tool for any player, located at the top right of the screen it can lead you to important places on all maps. The only limitation to this is it can't lead you from a place on one map to a place on the other (Though there are options to navigate to the portals that the map has, you could then walk through them and navigate to where you want on the new map). SteelWarship's navigation is the most used in Zero as so many players are there at the one time, and as there are so many NPCs the navigation menu extends to two pages and when you mouse-over some options they will expand (Such as "Equipment Mall" which will expand out and show options for "Outer-Gears", "Inner-Gears" etc.).
As you can see below the navigation button opens the Auto-Pilot function, the image also shows the extendable windows:

Minimap:
Located near the top-right of the screen the minimap is a very useful feature, showing you the surrounding area in a small box, this helps you to locate near-by friends, enemy's and shows you the terrain around you. There is a button on this that enlargens the picture but this shows less area.
The image below shows the minimap and helps me explain it easier:

Button 1 allows the function to turn off icons on the minimap such as you and your friends.
Button 2 zooms the map as previously stated.
Button 3 opens the area map.
Areamap:
The areamap is accessed from the mnimap by pressing a button, simply it's a bigger version of the minimap while not quite showing the whole area it shows a great deal and is called the areamap for that reason.
A picture of the SteelWarship area map:

The white "star" represents you.
Skulls represent Enemys.

(CODE: -CHAT-)

Chatting in Zero is not bland, with many things you can do I feel it deserves it's own section! Smileys, Actions, Whisper Windows, Add Friends and Equipment Viewing are afew of the cool things you can do!
In this section I will explain all the fun features of chat that you can do and how do them. The section will be broken into many sub-sections like the rest of this guide.
Item/Equipment Viewing:
A quick explaination of this is simply putting text into the chat window that can be clicked on to show an item/equipment piece. While typing you can open your cabin and hold Shift and Left-Click an item to insert the feature to your text. Now pressing enter anyone can click the text and view the item. I believe this only works while the item is still in your cabin.
View of certain clickable text and the "Box" that appears when clicked:

Notice how that as it's Elite both the text and the "box" are purple.
Smileys:
Beside the Potency button on the chat window side is a small button, as there are many you will simply have to highlight them to see what one is the correct button, the button's called "Emotions". By clicking this a window of Smileys appears and by clicking one it goes into your chat box ready to be sent to other players with the enter key.
Some of the avaliable Smileys:

Actions and Gestures:
By clicking the small button called "Text Emotions" in the same area as the "Emotions" you can bring up both the Texpression and Gestures boxes. Texpression simply writes a pre-set text to whoever your talking too. and Gestures make your Mech do an Action such as Kneel.
The currently avaliable actions and gestures:

Text Box Options:
These are various buttons in the same place as the other two buttons.
These include the "Clear" button which clears text.. No brainer, huh? The top button simply extends the chat box a little in a transparent box, can be done twice.
These two are displayed below in this picture:

Chat Log, simply shows all that has been written since you logged on for all channels of chat:

Font Color brings up many options, one being Font Color, this only changes the color of the text YOU write. Font size, nothing..? As of yet I can't see a change in the text. Scroll Bar, turning it on disables your ability to talk 0.0 Clear, this one works! Clears the chat window. Chat Mode, brings up the chat channels you can talk into (You can do this by clicking the channel your currently talking into anway or pressing Ctrl+Up/Down when typing).
A picture of these options:

The "Chat" button allows you to disable certain chat channels (Helpful in the market when you don't want to be spammed or when the guild just won't be quiet).
"Chat" button:

Adding Friends/Joining Team/Blacklisting:
Simply right-click a persons name in the chat window (Must be a speaker or a reciever and not just text) "Join" allows you to join the persons team if they have one, "Make Friends" simply asks them to befriend you. "Blacklist" allows you to add that person, or another person to the ignor list, stopping them from talking to you.

(CODE: -MRK/TRD-)

Selling and buying items from other players is the best way to to earn money and good equipments. At times you may need a certain item, it would be hard to get this item without player marketing interaction. This also goes for selling items you don't want (Especially those of the other class)
In this section the set-up, buying and renting of stalls, private tradeing and marketing techniques will be explained.

What is the Market?:
The Market in a non-pk area where every player can hang out, buy/sell items, join spacecraft missions or just browse booths. As so many players reside in the market most of the time the game will be "laggy" (slow for lower-end computers/internet), you don't have to go the market solely for buying and selling items, you can ask for a Mentor or an Apprentice, upgrade your equipments level or quality, claim and store ARMs and much more (Explained more in other sections).
Image of congested Market:

Booths: Buying & Renting:

In the Zero market system booths are very important, by setting up a booth you are able to leave the computer while selling items and collecting money. Although booths are limited, currently there are a total of 100 booths and with the responsibility of paying rent every hour while you use one it can get frustrating.
- Renting a Booth:
Renting a Booth is simple, all you need to know is the cost per hour (Maximum 10k) and carry the amount for the amount of hours you will be there, EG: 10 hours = 100k. The amount of rent may not seem much for the hours you use but it can get costly if you don't sell any/little items. I advise for that reason to take many items to a Booth when you set it up.
Rent varys greatly, the better the location the higher the rent (EG: Near the Spacecraft area where everyone waits for their quest to start is a high rent area).
Image of avaliable vending area:

- Setting up a Booth:
To set up a Booth you must first find one that is not in use (Best time is directly after maintinence). Then simply click it and click the correct button to start vending. Now you simply need to drag and drop items from your cabin to the Booth, everytime you do this a dialog will appear asking you how much you wish to sell for, simply fill this out (Only one currency can be used). Now wait for someone to buy the item(s).
Image of Confirmation to Buy/Use Booth:

- Ownership of a Booth:
Owning a Booth only has advantages, depending on a servers age Booths can be expensive, but if you can afford to buy one, very rewarding. Not only can you collect rent but if someone else wishes to buy your booth (Depending on your deposit) they will have to pay a great deal more for it then you paid (and recieve it all). To buy a booth simply open it and click "Buy". You will then be asked if you want to use Fleet funds (It will then be a Fleet Booth) or your own money (It will then be only your Booth).
Choosing which funds to use:

- Cancelling/Kicking from a Booth:
To stop vending click either the "X" at the top of the Booth or the $ sign near your cabin area, you will be asked to confrim this action, by confirming you will now be free to walk around and deposit your money/items to your warehouse.
To kick a person from you booth simply open the Booth and click "Kick", you will be asked to confrim this and told that you need to pay that hour's rent. By confirming the person will be kicked and your Booth will be free to use.
Image of the quit sign:

Private Trading:
Private tradeing is simply a trade between 2 accounts of various items and amoutns of gold/zp's. To start tradeing simply click the trade icon (Directly below the cabin) and click the target. Private tradeing costs you and the target nothing except what you traded. To add items or Gold/Zero Points to the trade is easy, simply click items from your Cabin and drop tehm in the trade window, for Gold simply type it in the box for Gold at the bottom and hit the small "X" to make it a Tick this also applys to Zero Points except it's the right-side box.
The confirmation screen of a player asking to trade you:

The actual trade screen:

Marketing Techniques:
Marketing requires you to smart in what you say in your hawk or chat window.
An example of what you shouldn't do is "Selling Meteor". This is because people don't want to whisper you to find out how much your selling it for, especially if your selling it for more then they want. Putting the price of the item in is a very effective marketing technique.
- Abbreviate: Instead of saying "Selling ..." or "Buying ..." you can abbreiviate this to "S> ..." and "B> ..." most players know this and it is much better for you as you can fit more into the one chat entry instead of constantly filling the screen.
Images of S> and B> Abbreviations:

As you can see this quickly tells all players i'm talking to that i'm selling & buying meteors for 1.3 & 1.5 million gold.
- Know the prices: If you want to sell an item such as a Meteor don't overprice it, 2 million gold is considered the overprice of a Meteor. This is because an NPC sells one for 2 million aswell, why would a player buy from you when they can buy from an NPC at a failsafe rate.
- Use Item/Equipment Viewing: As explained in the chat features section you should use this to make your typeing and selling job easier, especially for cores! Instead of writeing "S> 2k ID, 9% attack, HP restore 500" etc. for a core you can just have AttackCore and the person can just click it and immediately know what it is (Image of this is in Chat Features, but I have displayed the same one below to save you time tongue.gif)
Image of Item/Equipment Viewing:

- Extra Characters: Simply for the storage and convienience. Have a marketer character that you put in a booth all day while you play your main character, collect your money at the end of the day and refill it with what your main found.

(CODE: -CLASS-)

Here is a quetion all new people ask, even if it is just to themselves. "What class should I choose?" These is no simple answer except to what you like the most, melee or ranged.
In this section I will outline all advantages and disadvantages of both classes. I will also tell you what weapons each class has.

Weapons:
Both classes have two completely different sets of weapons, for Melee that is close-handed and for ranged they are guns.
- Melee: Light Sword (1 Handed), Heavy Sword (2 Handed), Spear (2 Handed), Scythe (2 Handed), Saber/Blade (1 Handed), Axe (Not out yet) and Hammer (1 Handed).
- Ranged: Rifle, Machine Gun, Flame Gun, Frost Gun, Shotgun, Sniper Rifle (Not out yet) and Gauss Cannon (Not out yet).
Those Melee weapons that are 1-handed can be used in combanation with a shield allowing for extra defence, all Ranged Guns are 2 Handed. For Potency 2 Handed weapons recieve double potency so that those 1 handed melee characters don't get extra from thier shields.
From the weapons alone you can see Melee has 1 extra avaliable weapon at the current time allowing for more choice if this is your desire.

Skills:
Skills are important for both classes to help kill monsters, for Ranged it is very important as their melee attack is very weak. Below is a quick explanation on the skills for both classes.
- Melee:
Melee skills offer some range to melee characters and a well placed skill is good in PVP for them as it practically nerfs ranged users advantages. However don't be thinking that the range is as good as a range unit, it is still smaller. Melee has only 2 sets of Skills to learn and they can be used by ANY weapon Melees use, I have an Image of tbelow as this is a clear difference between the classes:

- Ranged:
Ranged units skills are their only weapon and as such are very effective. Most ranged skills target one enemy and allow you to hit them from anywhere you can see them on screen. The other multipul hitting skills are skill larger ranged them Melee offering a good chance of success in PVP. The Skill tree for Ranged is much different to Melee as Ranged users must buy a bunch of skills for every weapon that can only be used by that weapon, this effectivly makes it a very expensive class when it comes to skills:

From Skills it is clearly all up to you to decide which is stronger, I would say whatver you like the most as you would do surely better in it. However you would do better in Ranged if you had another funded account to pay for the Skills.

Looks:
Generally when choosing a class all people think about the looks, I can tell you all classes in most games start out looking bad lol. But that's the way a game works, to incourage you to level and evolve/change your character to look awesome and thus allowing you to fully experience the game. In this section I will post four images; one for Melee and one for Ranged. These images will contain The main units, anti-heat, anti-frost and advanced units for both classes at level 130. It is then up to you to decide which class is "Sexier". If some models are missing or undereveolved (EG: Level 100 Evolution instead of 130) it will say so in the picture.

(CODE: -TM/FLT/SQD-)

Both Teams and Fleets (Not all games have a squad) are very important features in all online games, though the names/ideas and benifits may change all good games have these.
In this section I will explain what benifits each of these offer, what the difference between these are and the disadvantages (Such as cost, maintaining etc.)

Team:
- Cost: Free.
- Advantages:
-- More EXP: By leveling near Teammates you will gain a small portion of the EXP from monsters they kill. During XP mode the more monsters a team collectivly kills the more EXP each player will get at the end (EXP is saved until the end of the XP).
-- More Potency: During XP from nearby Teammates if they have more Potency you can gain some for protection from monsters and other players.
-- Know the location of Teammates: Simple, Temamates will appear on the Minimap as a respective number to their number in the team (Top person on the team will be a 1 on the map and so on), additionally you can see them on the Areamap if they are too far away to be displayed on the Minimap.
-- Extra chat channel: You gain the use of an Extra chat channel, this channel is only for your team to hear and to talk in.
- Information:
Teams are very useful for faster leveling, making friends and knowing where each other is (for situations such as the PK Tournament this is useful). The head of the team can change options to declare if members may pick up items or money from other team members drops, they may kick and also invite others. The teaming concept is simple, a band of players out to help each other.
Image of Team Invite:

Image of Teammates Avatars:

Fleet:
- Cost: 1,000,000 to Create.
- Advantages:
-- Fleet Wars: When avaliable you will be able to join Fleet Wars.
-- Elite Groups: By being in a highly respected Fleet you could be defined as an "Elite" player, as such Fleets have requirements for joining such as a Potency or Level limit.
-- Extra chat channel: You gain the use of an Extra chat channel, this channel is only for your Fleet to hear and to talk in.
- Information:
A Fleet is exactly what it the name implys, a Fleet of many Mechs (players) in a mass group. Fleets are used to distinguise who are friends/enemys and powerful players. Alone the CO of a Fleet may find it tough maintaining member numbers and expanding, they can however promote fellow Fleet members to higher positions with powers such as invitation.
Below are images of how to open the general Fleet menu and the main Interface of it, here you can view various stats of your Fleet such as Enemys, Allies and Current Members. Also below is the Fleet Manager where you create your Fleet and promote/demote members.

You gain the use of an Extra chat channel, this channel is only for your Squad to hear and to talk in.
-- Small Group:
By being in a certain Squad other players may lok up to you and aspire to be like you.
- Information:
Squads a small groups of players that wish to become stronger, in a way they are a more stronger team that won't easily dismiss, when other Squad members are online you can share Potency if your on the same map in the same team, though if your Mentor is online you won't.

(CODE: -PVP-)

Player vs Player is what attracts many people to online games, PVP is what makes grinding monsters fun. Training up to become stronger then your bitter enemys and crush them or to win against your friends in a bout is a very important factor in any online game.
PVP always comes at a cost if you fight in the open areas. This is fair and is in most online games. Few games offer a PK Arena for free PK without reprecussions, currently Zero only has the jail for this but like other TQ games i'm sure we will recieve one.
Please note that currently in Zero you can't PK or be PK'd untill you are level 100+.
PK Points:
PK points determine how many people you have killed, the more people you have killed the more PK points you will accumulate. Every minute your PK Points will decrease by 1. An additonal step in Zero is colored names, this indicates the amount of you killing in a single glance.
- White:
0-29 PKP, don't worry too much about these players as normally they are on 0. The only problem with this is their intention is sealed.
- Red:
30-99 PKPs earn you this color, be cautious but not threat over these players as normally it is simple revenge on a another player (But becareful they could be starting a PK spree!)
- Purple:
You need 100-999 PKP for this color, these players are dangerous but not as much as black names.
- Black:
The worst color for accumulation of PKP. You need 1000 PKP's for this status.. be very careful around these players.
The punishment for PK is loss of EXP (Without a Military Badge), item duras going to 0 (Increases with each color, white = none) and items in the cabin loss, purple and black names loss everything here (Except un-droppables like Expansion-Cabins).
- Flashing:
Flashing name indicates that the player is guilty of hitting another player recently, be that a kill or just a hit. Becareful of this as they are deemed the worst (As they have only recently started flashing and could attempt to kill you).

Jail:
Jail is the ultimate punishment for Pking, PKers must spend the amount of time it takes them to get to 29 pk points (White name). Or pay a fine according to their accumulated points, if a fine is payed the player that sent them to jail will receive a portion. PK is allowed in the jail without punishment.

PK Mode:
PK modes are what YOU are in, they only affect YOU. An example of this is Peace mode doesnt mean you can't be PK'd.
Ok now I've gotten that out of the way it's time to talk about the modes and how to change them. The button your after likely looks like a dove (Default PK mode, Peace), it is to the bottom-right of your potency button and down-left of your skill button.
The following will appear:

Simply choose the PK mode you want, I will outline them here:
- Peace: You can't attack anyone or engage in PVP. If attacked you will auto-change to Defence Mode.
- Team: Only your team is safe from your wrath tongue.gif.
- Guild (Fleet): Kill anyone not in your fleet, time for a mass fleet killing biggrin.gif.
- Defence: Let's kill all those evil players! Allows you to kill Red, Purple, Black and Flashing players.
- PK: All for one and one for all! Pk anyone above level 100.
- Advanced: Sets your PK mode to the settings in your "Advanced PK Mode".
- Advanced Mode: Allows you to choose who to PK with a dialog box.

Simply tick the boxes for those you wish to kill.

Are you just starting Zero? What's the cabin and where is it?? How do I equip items? How do I level up!? I have a Meteor, what's that!?
This section is just for you! All your queries will be answered here! This section will include all the basics for Zero and likely for most other MMORPGs.

Upgradeing Item Levels with Meteors:
Have you got a Meteor and don't know what to do with it? Meteors can be used for many things. Mainly however they are used to upgrade an items level.
What does this mean? Simply an example would be a level 31 armor can be upgraded to a level 41 armor and so on.
The reverse can be done at the same place in the market to de-level your items, this is good for when you find an item to high for you by one level (As in your 31 and the armors 41) you could use a Meteor to make it level 31.
The item upgrader is easy to find, simply use the SteelWarships navigation menu to navigate to "Level Upgrade" under "Market".
I recommend only using Meteors on Elites/Ultras/High +'d or Socketed gear as Meteors are rare. Meteors have a rough market value of 1.5million gold.
Interface for Level Upgrade:

Upgradeing Item Quality with Stars:
Have you got an item you see as good? (Recommend only Elite items with a good status such as Socketed or High +'d) Do you wish to make it even more stronger without leveling it up? If your item is below Ultra quality (As that is the maximum quality) you can use stars to upgrade the quality. The quality chain is as follows: Normal-Refined-Unique-Elite-Ultra. Certain stars are stronger then others, the "quality" of the stars is below:
Rose Star: It is believed to only have a 5% success rate at upgrading Elite to Ultra, this star is the weakest.
Sapphire Star: The success rate is around 25% from Elite to Ultra, if you wish for a reasonable success rate but not to spend to much this is your best bet.
Amethest Star: The strongest star, a 100% success rate for every upgrade.
Remember that Rose Stars cost around 30million gold and that you need 5 of them and 10k gold to make a Sapphire Star.
Then 4 Sapphire Stars (20 Rose Stars total) and 10k to fuse into a Amethest Star to have a 100% success rate.
You can also win Sapphire and Amethest stars from the PK tournament and other events.
The Interface for Quality Upgrade is the same as Level Upgrade, but using stars, so an image isn't really needed.

Fighting Monsters & Leveling:
Figthing monsters is the key way to level up your character and become stronger. Leveling up allows you access to key things such as the ability to PK, own an ARM, evolution and much more.
But how do you fight monsters? First you should open the navigation menu (As explained in the navigation section) and then choose the level gap of monsters for you (If your in the first area called SteelWarship you must highlight the navigation menu "Robots" for the training areas.
Now find a monster (You will know when you do, they don't like look players.. and they will try and kill you). Now if you are a melee character you can just left-click the monster, at later levels when you have skills you can right-click them. For a ranged you will never need left-click as your melee attack is very weak, you should simply use right-click.
After a monster dies the EXP status bar will increase (View status bar section for more information) and when it reachs 100% you level-up to the next level (EG: 1, 2, 3 etc.). Like all games leveling up gets harder each new level, x8, x9 levels being the worst in any level gap (EG: 78, 79, 108, 109) and x0, x1 levels being the easiest in these level gaps.
Experience Bar (When the percent reaches 100 you will level-up) and Level Indicator:

Using the Warehouse:
The warehouse in Zero is easy-to-use and free, in some games you have to pay to store items in your warehouse but in Zero the only payment is payment to expand it.
The choices for upgrading your Warehouse:

A warehouse is simply a bank in most online games. You can store your items/money there without fear of loseing them. Using a warehouse is like using your cabin (As explained below) you simply drap and drop items into the warehouse, you can rotate items (While dragging simply right-click) to fit more into the warehouse aswell. To "Drag" an item simply left click it from your cabin.
To get to the warehouse go to the SteelWarship and navigate to "Warehouse" under the navigation section "Warehouse".
Warehouse Level 1 Interface:

Unit Name and Color:
Both of these features are in Zero to help change your character to be different from others.
- Unit Color: By changing your units color you can be seen by others more often and if someone is looking for you they will know to look for that color.
There are twos ways to obtain the item for this,
Missions: By joining either S-14 Confidential, Shock and Awe (S-15), Pirates Cove or Plumbers Work. you will receive an item box with a random item inside, this could be the UnitSprayReagent.
Zero Points: You can buy the UnitSprayReagent from the shopping mall.
Image of UnitSprayReagent:

- Unit Name:
The name of your unit will be viewed by you all the time (if you have the correct setting ticked on the settings menu), and by players who mouse-over your name. If you couldn't have your character name in-game because someone already took it you can change your unit name to that, as it doesn't have to be unique. To change your unit name open your equipment menu, click details and then the button that looks like a Pencil near your current unit name at the top.
Step-by-Step Images for Name Changing:

Un-Indentified Items:
Have you found an Un-Indentified item? What are they? How do I have them Identified?
An Un-Identified item is simply a mask on an item you find. When you find one it is fun hopeing that it is a rare item.
There are two ways to ID an item, if your at the steelwarship you can navigate to "Identify Item" under the "Market" section. This was is free but time-wise it is bad as running from your training field to the market everytime you get a full cabin is often. If you have one and your in the market it is the best way to do though.
The second way is to use a core auxilary program (Read the Core section for more information). Certain cores have an Aux program that will ID an item anywhere and time (Well they do have a 15 second cool-down time), but this is at a cost, this can be 5k, 3k, 2k and so on (minimum is free). In the long run it is better to have the core as you will likely find the required gold before you find an item anyway.
- Image of an Unidentified item:

Sockets and Gems:
Socketed items simply allow for Gems to be socketed. But what are gems? Gems are a offer supportive function determined by the type and quality. Potency Gems offer Potency, Attack Gems offer Attack and so on. Normal Gems offer the least amount of the 3 qualitys and shouldn't really be socketed as it is a waste, Refined gems are the next set up they offer more then then Normal Gems and cost 10 Normal Gems to make, Ultra Gems are the strongest of all 3 and offer the most, they cost 30 Refined Gems.
Simply obtaining a Gem is not enough to socket an item, an item needs a socket. There are many ways to do this but they are costly, weapons can be sometimes found with sockets in them, though rarely. Gems can be removed once socketed, however, they will break and you will lose them.
- Images of all the Gems

Using the Cabin:
The Cabin (External) is the inventory for Zero, this is where items and equipment go when you buy/find them. However you must be careful as your cabin spaces are limited. To open the cabin simply click the redish button surrounded in orange to the mid-bottom right of your screen. To help with space issues you can left click an item and then right-click to rotate it to fit it is a better position. You can drop items by left-clicking them "sticking" them to the mouse and then left-clicking the ground, sometimes a confirmation screen will appear, if this happens make sure it is an item you don't want as it deemed a rare item by the programmers (Example: don't drop Meteors because you don't know what they are!)
Cabin Button and Cabin Interface:

Equiping items:
Equiping items is very important, if you don't you won't recieve the bonus's from them such as Defence and Attack, making you suffer in PVP and general fighting. To equip an item you can open your cabin and right-click an item, if you meet the requirements it will be auto-equiped. If you had an item already equiped it will be replaced by the new item.
The equipment screen is not complicated at all, and rather easy as the items you equip will be displayed in the respective boxes.
Towards the middle you will notice a "cabin" this is refered to as the "Internal Cabin" and is like your "Inventory Cabin" but just a big equipment area, you can place gears such as an Engine, Cabin, HP Module, Shield, Cores and others here. As you evolve this will increase allowing for more to be added.
To open the Equipment screen click the robot like button to the left of the cabin.
Equipment Button and Interface:

Unit Evolution:
Unit Evolution! This what everyone looks forward to at levels, 20, 60, 100, 130! Unit Evolution chnages your unit to look better and bigger, but also increases your Internal Cabin space aswell.
To evolve a unit at these levels simply open the navigation menu in SteelWarship and choose the correct level Evolution under the "Unit Evolution" tab. The NPC dialog for your level will come up and all you have to do is click the correct dialog (The 60 and 100 NPC is the same) and sit back and watch the fireworks (Well not really fireworks, but it's a nice effect).
Level 20 Evolution Image:

Chatting:
Chatting allows you to comunicate witha nother player by text, to do this simply click in the textbox at the bottom left (The longer one) and start typeing, when your done hit "Enter". Alternatly simply press "Enter" and the textbox will be ready to be typed in.

Avatars:
Avatars show your characters personality and attitude. Avatars are simply pictures that everyone is a team with you, that mouse-over you or trade with you will see. By choosing one that suits you people can know what you think is "Cool" or what you like.
You will see your avatar at the top-left of the screen through the entire game, don't worry as you CAN change your avatar!
By navigating in SteelWarship to "Pilot Avatars" under the "Market" tab you can pay 5,000 gold to change it. Their are other ways to do this but they are more costly (Zero Points or Crystals).
Example Avatars:

Zero uses an excellent Mentor and Apprentice system where both the Mentor and the Apprentice gain rewards. Mentor's can also gain rewards off an Apprentice's Apprentice as a double-bonus. You cannot have a mentor at level 170+.
In this section I will explain the rewards and requirements for Mentoring and Apprenticing and also about Guidence EXP.
Mentor:
Mentors can have 10 apprentices, by viewing your apprentice/mentor list you can see their apprentice level, the higher the level the better rewards you will receive. Bascially all rewards you receive are percentages of what your apprentice has earned, if your apprentice buys a Military Badge or wins some Amethest Crystals you can claim a certain amount of them. An Example of this is when your Apprentice buys a Badge for 7 days, you will earn 1 days worth. (They still keep their 7 days aswell). To claim your rewards simply click "Mentor Gains" button above your potency button, and then click "claim" for the rewards you wish to gain.
"Mentor Gains" screen:

On this screen you can also view your Apprentices contribution, this helps decide who is dispendable.
"Apprentice Contribution" tab:

Also note that your Apprentices can have Apprentices and you will receive rewards from them too.
Sign above a possible Mentors head:

Apprentice:
An Apprentices reward is simple, when their Mentor is online they will gain a certain percent of his/her total potency added to them. While this might not sound like much you can earn up to around 200 potency, this makes PVP and leveling a breeze. At the correct levels Apprentices are also allowed to be a Mentor aswell.
Example Potency Difference:

Guidance:
Not much is known about this yet, currently we know that you can earn it at 00:00 server time (just after the currently daily maintinence) and then when used on a player they earn a decent amount of EXP. This can be good for leveling a second character if you so choose.

The main currency in a game normally drops from monsters but can be aquired many ways. This includes from other players, missions/quests and special events. Nearly every game has a money tip thread on how to become rich, Zero is no exception.
In this section I will go through all good money hunting tips and ways of acumulating it. If something confuses you it is likely it has it's own section in this guide or I will simply explain it here.
Material Quests:
This particular way of earning money actually has it's own section, however here I will explain how to earn money really fast from them and their next door neighbours (Killing Quests and Criminal Hunting Quests). The location of these quests is explained in that section, but simply go to a map of monsters, open your Auto-Pilot and choose the level of quests that you fit into.
everytime you hand an NPC an item for these quests you can randomly recieve gold, by combining this with trading them for EXP you can level up fast AND gain money.
Spacecraft Missions:
One of the best ways to earn money. With a team of 5-20 players (depending on the mission), missions mainly requiring you to kill a total number of Monsters or Kill a boss. The rewards for such little work that is required is large. A good missions for earning money is "KirkIsCalling", by simply killing (Including branch mission for greater reward), 2400 Blade Robots, 1800 ArmorClaw Robots and 1400 PoisenClaw Robots you earn a large quantity of EXP and 290, 000 gold. By doing 3 of these missions you can earn nearly 1, 000, 000 million gold in 3 hours (Remember also while waiting for a mission you can also hunt monsters for extra gold and EXP).
Green Planet:
Green Planet is a great source of income for level 130+ players (Or 120+ with a full team). Although the level 167 monsters will 1-hit-ko you, by using XP up a free lane (go up a lane that people think they "own" and you'll likely get pk'd), and then running back to safety before XP runs out and you'll get mass amounts of EXP and while monsters are still respawning you can collect items, gold, crystals and cores, as they are level 167 the amount of gold/crystals that drop (+ the bonus of items/cores) will be well worth it.
To access "GP" go to the MoonFortress (A quickway at level 100+ is to use the teleporter near the ammo/hp store in SteelWarship for 50k), once here simply navigate to "Green Planet". Once your at the NPC just pay 50k (Unless your level 160). You will now be in the "pre-greenplanet" room, talk to the NPC here and choose one of the dungeons (A and C are 167 monsters and have a safe area), the only difference between A & B and C & D are the maps, A is exactly like C and B exactly like D, the reason you pay 500k for C or D is that less players will be there making ot easier to level.

(CODE: -NWB-)

Few games have newbie quests to teach you what certain things are and what certain items are. Zero is one of those, this newbie quest starts a chain which will quick-level you to level 20 ready for your first evolution.
In this section I will walk you through the quest layed out on the Zero website (As I can't remember it much and I can't open two clients) and fill you in on missing or hard to understand details.
Newbie Base:
After watching your Mech land in the Newbie Base walk over to the NPC named "Venity":

She will tell you to continue to the right and talk to Colonel Thomas:

You will receive some free starter equipment. Open your Cabin (view the Basics for Beginners section for explaination) and right-click these items (Weapons and Armor, leave the "Hudson Navigator" for now) and then continue right into the portal.
Weapons and Outter Gears:
You have now arrived in the SteelWarship, this is your first step into the world of Zero. To fast-track to level 20 and learn some Basics for Zero re-open your cabin and use the "Hudson Navigator" (Do not drop this item untill you completly finish this quest as each time you use it you will Auto-Pilot to the next NPC in the quest), this will lead you to the newbie trainer "Hudson":

After talking to Hudson he will Auto-Pilot you to the shops to learn how to equip Weapons and Outter gears.
Warehouse and XP skills:
After you have done this return to Hudson (Use the Hudson Navigator if need be). Hudson will now send you to the warehouse:

After visiting the Warehouse Manager she will teleport you to CaptainWest:

He will grant you permission to fight 10 Level-7 NeutronStorms. He will teach you how to use your powerful XP skills to aid you in their defeat:

(To use an XP skill simply click it when it appears dow the bottom-right).
After you beat the monsters he will also give you a free Refined Weapon of your choice:

Item Upgrading - Leveling and Quality Improvement:
He will then give you a Meteor Model:

You will then be Auto-Piloted too the Level and Quality upgrade depots in the Market and you will be given a quick explaination on the systems.
In addition you will receive a Phase Shift Armor, Refined Engine Charged Booster and Refined Area Afterflame Thruster, which you should equip.
EXP Models:
Now CaptainWest believes in you and you gain his full trust, now he will ask you to assist Lieutenant Colonel Bert at 900, 506:

He will ask you to retrieve some EXP Recorders from Level-9 NeutronStorms.
After you have done this talk to Lieutenant Colonel Bert again, he will tell you to visit the Military Academy with the repaired EXP model (You can use the navigation menu if you need to), you will then have the EXP models used on you and level to level 20. You will then be informed you can Evolve your unit!
Unit Evolution:
Navigate to the level 20 evolution area and talk to the topmost NPC called Lyry and then choose "Level 20 Evolution":

After watching your unit evolve you should report back to the Military Academy once again, you will be awarded a Unique weapon of your choice (In most cases players use the same weapon type for the rest of the game):

Inner Gears:
He will then direct you to the Inner Gears shop where you can learn what Inner Gears are and how to use them. After doing this you will be awarded a Unique level 20 Cabin which you should equip.
Blaze Ocean:
Return to the Academy once more and he will teleport you to Blaze Ocean where the Newbie Quest comes to an end.

(CODE: -O/G/S-)

Refinement is a useful feature to Zero, by accumulating a certain amount of a said item you can have them Refined into a Rare item (Sometimes this costs money). Some items that are needed require you to do quests, while others require an amount of already rare items to create a stronger version of them.
In this section I will explain each different type of Refinement, the cost, and the location of needed NPCs. I will also explain the locations of the needed items is applicable.
Meteor Pieces:
Meteor Pieces can be refined by the NPC named "Terriden". He can be found just past the Market Jump-Pad (the one you use when you exit a mission). At the cost of 5 of these items (found from the monsters that are not needed to be killed in certain missions, such as NightCrawlers in CallToArms) he will make a Meteor for you.
Stardust Particles:
This is the same thing as Meteor Pieces with the same NPC, only 10 Stardust Particles are needed and you get a Chomsky Particle +1 back.
For those that don't know a Chomsky Particles can be subsituted in equipment composing with one of the needed items (Depending on the + of the particle, +1 can replace a +1 item and so on).
Stars:
As you should know, Stars improve the quality of items. However they often fail, but by Refining them together you can make stronger ones. Navigate to "Gem/Meteor Fusion" under "Market" at SteelWarship.
Sapphire Stars:
To refine a Sapphire Star you need 5 Rose Stars and 10k Gold. Sapphire Stars have a 25% rate for upgrading from Elite to Ultra.
Amethest Stars:
To refine an Amethest Star you need 4 Sapphire Stars (20 Rose Stars) and 10k Gold. They will upgrade your items quality without fail.
Gems:
Gems increase your Mechs attack, defence, potency and EXP gain. Normal gems are quite weak and not really worth socketing. However by taking 10 Normal Gems (of the same type) to the "Gem/Meteor Fusion" shop under "Market" you can make a Refined Gem of that type. To make an Ultra Gem you need 30 Refined Gems (300 Normal Gems).

(CODE: -ZP-)

Zero Points are the buyable in-game currency for Zero, many free (And sometimes pay) online games have "Shopping Malls" for funding so that the company can afford to run to the servers and still have a source of income.
In this section I will have the cost of "Zero Points" (When they are out), special events for collecting "Zero Points" as they happen and everything you can do with them (as things you can do with them are implemented).
Shopping Mall:
The Shopping Mall is what stops players from selling items at outrageous prices, most of the items here such as Meteors and RedStars, it is also a good option to buy from if noone else is selling an item that you need. The Shopping Mall only has items sold for Zero Points and no Gold.
Shopping Mall Button:

Page one of the Shopping Mall:

Lottery:
Lottery is one of the biggest reasons to have Zero Points, by paying 28 ZPs (each time) you can do Lottery 10 times a day (unless you have a core program that allows extra turns).
Lottery is simply a large room with many boxes you can click to gain random items.
You can only click one box each visit and claim one prize.
Prizes can be anything from DarkStars (100% chance to upgrade Elite items to Ultra) to Double EXP potions that last an hour.
To get to the lottery visit SteelWarship and open your navigation menu, by then highlighting "Lottery" you have Three choices as there are Three Lottery NPCs. Each NPC takes you to the same place the only reason there are Three is so that it is convienient.
Two Example Lottery Boxes:

Core Lottery:
Core Lottery is a fun way to use your Zero Points, by accepting you can choose one of 10 randomly selected cores to keep. This costs 2 Zero Points and can only be done 10 times in a day however. To reach Core Lotter go to SteelWarship and open your navigation, on page two click CoreCenter.
Core Dealer Huffron (NPC to talk to):

Zero Point Events:
The best time to play Zero, in Zero point events ZeroPointPack(s) will drop from all monsters, to make it fair for all players the drop rate is completly random, you could get 3 FancyZeroPointPacks by killing afew monsters, or go without any Packs for up to 5-10 minutes.
Below are the different Packs and what you recieve when you open them:
StarZeroPointPack = Two ZPs
AuroraZeroPointPack = Three ZPs
FancyZeroPointPack = Four ZPs
Below is an example FancyZeroPointPack:

(CODE: -QUAL-)

The quality of an item is it's major value of rarity. In most online games items must have a quality so that players can be stronger then others and show that they have a very powerful item.
Zero follows a simple system like Eudemons and Conquer Online (Other TQ Games).
The quality of items is simply: Normal-Refined-Unique-Elite-Ultra-Fixed
Each quality has it's own glow (apart from normal), which is different for each level of quality.
Refined:
While Refined items are stronger then normal they are still weak and should be discarded as soon as possible as they don't add much Potency/Attack/Defence or other effect the item has.
Unique:
These are the most common items, while you could argue that Elite are more-so Uniques are easier to maintain each level and don't cost much to buy, these are acceptable to use untill you can afford to buy Elites and Meteors to level them as you do.
Elite:
The quality most strive for, this is a good quality to socket the gear and compose it. Wearing Elite items with a decent + addition will allow you to fight monsters your level or higher with ease.
Ultra:
The best Quality, offering the best power and most Potency these items are very expensive, Ultra items are very hard to obtain and mostly made using stars. By equiping Ultra weapons they will glow all the time if you are using that unit.
Fixed:
Not exactly a quality but the most powerful form of an item that level, they don't give Potency bonus and are not upgradable, so thus are only good at lower levels when Potency doesn't really matter as much.

Every client based online game has settings, at minimum, your choice to display names and resolution change. By changing these settings users can have a better time playing the game in the modes that they like best.
Zero is no exception, with an easy-to-use settings menu all users really need to know is where the button is.
In this section I will explain all the settings on this menu and how to access it.
Opening the Menu:
Opening the Settings Menu is simple, one click of a button. The settings button is located to the bottom-right of your screen just above your hotkeys:

Names and Shadows:
This is the first tab that appears when you open the Settings Menu, the tab name is "options". On this tab you can define if you want Full or Simple shadows, Simple Shadows is a Circle below all NPCs and Players, Full is an outline of the NPC/Character Module.
On this tab you can also choose if you want to display names above players, NPCs, Items and Monsters by simply ticking/crossing the correct boxes.
Image of "Options" tab:

Hotkeys and Chat Channels:
This is the second tab on the list, the tab simply states "Hotkey".
From personal use I do not know how the first section works (if it does, I seen no change after use).
The second section is simple, by ticking or crossing the boxes you can enable/disable chat channels according to the text beside them. This is useful for when to many people are whispering you.
On this tab you can also Delete your character, recently TQ Digital has made a form for returning deleted Characters to full status if a incident happens:
http://support.zero3...e/index_jz.aspx
Image of "Hotkey" tab:

Music and Sound:
The Music and Sound tab is a very good feature, you can change the volume of both the Sound Effects and Music by using the scrollbars and also disable certain sounds such as item dropping. This is good for when you have a speaker set and you want to use it for your personal music with no interferance from other background noises.
Image of "Sound" tab:

User Interface (UI):
From personal use I can't actually see any use in these options, however for the sake of completeness I have included this sub-section and a picture. I will edit this when I do know what these options do.

To play any online game you must create a Character to play with. You must name this Character and often choose a Class for it. Normally you can also have the ability in this creation process to choose an Avatar or change your hair for free.
In Zero there are few things you need to do to create a Character, but I feel that it should be added anyway. I strongly advise reading the Newbie Quest section after this if this is your first Character on Zero.
Choosing you Sex:
When creating a Character in Zero you can choose either Male or Female, normally however you would make the Character the same sex that you are in "real-life" to help other players in-game to know you better.
The two Icons for the Character Sex:

Choosing a Class:
To know more about each Class including Looks, Skills and Weapons pleast read the Class Information section.
To choose a Class you simply need to click the correct button and then the "Next" button.
After choosing a Sex the other Sex will be blackened out and you can't choose it unless you go back and choose that Sex instead, however both Melee Classes are at the top and both Ranged at at the bottom:

Choosing a Name and Avatar:
This is regarded as the hardest part of making a Character, what to name it? I can't give any tips on that here as everyones preference is different. First choose an Avatar (Examples below):

And then type your choosen name into the text box, click the "OK" button:

You will then be asked to Confirm this with a "Yes" or "No" button:

If you choose a Unique name that noone already has in this server your Character will now be created!

(CODE: -BOSS-)

Bosses are a fundemental monster in any game, by having a boss to test players skills and rewarding them for the effort online games keep players attracted. Often Bosses tie in with the story of the game or are just the "King" of that particular monster.
In Zero players refer to 3 different types of monsters.
Quest Monsters:
For Regional Quests (see Material Quest section) and some Spacecraft Quests there are monsters that must be killed and are tougher then the other monsters surrounding them. These "Bosses" are normally easy to kill and in Regional Quests re-spawn quickly because of the frequent use of the quests.
Currently in Zero most Regional Quest bosses can move but not attack. Though the few that can attack are quite strong, indicating that when the rest are fixed they will be aswell (for the level the quest is for that is), presumably this is like this so that Alpha/Beta players can have an easier time and test the game more.
Mark Bosses, I, II, III:
Mark Bosses look like regular monsters, however, they have an indicator of difficulty by the number of I's at the end of their name. I being the weakest and less rewarding while III being the most.
At a 100% rate (from what players know) Mark Bosses will drop a CrystalPack containing an amount of RoseQuartz, this can be 20k, 50, or 100k (from what i've had). They also have a highened chance of dropping quality items such as Unique, Elite, Ultra.
Note: These bosses only drop CrystalPacks if they are green-name to you. The higher the level gap (the higher level the monster is to you) the more chance of Elites/Sockets and other Rare items.
Example of Mark II boss:

Dungeon Bosses:
These are the most deadly and rewarding bosses in Zero, found in GreenPlanet dungeons once killed they ALWAYS drop a Red Star, a Meteor, or a Blue Star. The spawn time for these is unknown, but whenever you see "Alarm!" in the system messages at the top-left of the screen.
Only one dungeon boss spawns at a time, but once it is killed the next boss will spawn if it's due.
These bosses use Potency as their power, each Boss has around 1000 Potency, and so most players damage them 1's and get killed instantly, thus making them deadly.

(CODE: -WMAS-)

Few games require you to work for a weapon (other then making or finding them) like TQ games, this however is a good feature (although time consuming) as it makes gameplay longer even though you level much faster in TQ games.
In this section I will have a quick run down of what Weapon Mastery is and the various ways of improving it, such as Mastery CDs.
What is Weapon Mastery?:
Weapon Mastery is your skill in a certain weapon, to equip higher level weapons you need a higher Mastery Level for that weapon. As your mastery in a weapon levels it becomes harder and harder to get the next level. There are afew ways to level Mastery which I will explain below.
Weapon Mastery CDs:
These drop from all monsters, they add a certain amount of EXP to a weapon Mastery depending on the level (each Mastery CD has a name such as "2-Handed Sword Mastery" that explains what Mastery it improves).
Free Weapon for your Mastery Level:
By talking to a Material Quest NPC (read the section on it to know more) you can select "Weapon Experience" and then a specific weapon of your choice. The NPC then gives you the highest equipable weapon for your unit (you may be level 100 and recieve a level 40 sword because of your Mastery Level), this is great for helping you with your ARMs if you decide to power level them, currently you can only recieve weapons at a maximum level of 50 however.
General Fighting:
The cheapest (it's free.. except for repairing xD) and easiest way to level your weapon Mastery. By equiping the desired weapon you need Mastery in and hitting monsters your Mastery will slowly level up and eventually gain the desired level.
Viewing Current Percent:
To view the level and percent of your Mastery level you can clcik the skills button and then the the "weapon" tab at the bottom.

(CODE: -CTRD-)

Core Trading is a useful feature in Zero Online, by allowing players to NPC cores into an auction of sorts for Zero Points other players can wait in-line to sell and purchase cores, while some might not be good as people generally just do this to junky cores for free Zero Points you can then use the cores for other useful feautres such as making War Cores or Socketing Gear.
In the section I will explain how players can use and make Zero Points off this system.
Where?
Locating this NPC is very easy, make your way to the Steelwar Ship and use the navigation to "Core Trade", I have not listed the tab it's under as recently the navigation menu for this map has changed with most new patchs. As a side note, if you find anything on this guide that I tell you to navigate to where the tab or even name of the destination has changed please inform me!
Selling Cores:
By clicking "sold cores" after talking to the NPC you can input your own cores and allow them to sell, however you should note that cores are put in-line to be sold, and so players before you will have thier cores sold first! Sometimes the NPC will credit you Zero Points ahead of time to save you the hastle of waiting for players to buy your cores.

Buying Cores:
Buying Cores is similar to selling, except you are obviously buying. By hitting Advertise in the Core Center you can choose which core you will buy and for what price (in Zero Points), when you reach number one on the list (it will tell you what number you are, other players buy Cores here aswell!) the next core up for sale (of the desired type and price) will be sent to your Purhased Cores warehouse (hit the "Purchased" button).

(CODE: -CZRO-)

The War Core is unique to Zero's core system. Since the War Core is new I decided it should have it's own section and here it is.
In this section I will explain the features of this core and how to obtain it.
Features:
What makes the War Core important enough to list in it's own section? It is has the main programs of the three most used cores in the game! Potency, Attack and Defence all in one core. Not only this but the way to obtain it is unique, unlike other cores that drop from level 107+ monsters, you must use other cores to make it.
Making a War Core:
The War Core is very easy to make, though, not the cheapest thing you can do xD. By obtaining cores 1 to 10 (see "Core Information" section for each cores number) and using the R&D center,
Image of R&D Center button (note that although the graphic has changed it is very similar):

You can click the "stats" button for "Zero Core Swap" to bring up the trade screen.
"Stats" Button:

By then dropping 1 of each core in the new window you can increase your progress towards the trade goal, you can do this as slowly as you want or all in one go.
War Core Trade Window:

- Please Note:
Once you have put a core in it is lost forever and cannot be retrieved.

All online games have patchs, weather very few or many they are basically additions to the game itself. Patchs normally include Bugfixes and New Features.
After patching, to actually play most online games you must select a server and character to use, this allows for various characters on different servers with different friends and more fun.

In this section I will walk you through both auto-patching, manual patching and using the log-in interface.
Auto-Patching:
When you open play.exe (either via a shortcut or from the zero folder) and press one of the "Enter" buttons the next screen to show up (even breifly) is the Auto-Patch screen (It consists of a background and a download bar just below mid-point).
It checks if your game is up-to-date and if not will auto-matically download the patchs you need.
If you have a connection problem or are not connected to the internet you will receiev and error message and won't be able to proceed.
- Image of one of the various Auto-Patching screens:

Manual Patching:
Although AutoP is much more convinient it can sometimes not work (Vista users may notice this) or be overwhelmed by mass downloading when a new patch is released. In this case by visiting http://www.zero3000....d/patches.shtml you can download any patch singular or a all-in-one patch. To use these patchs you MUST run them from the zero folder (you cannot simply press "open" and so forth). After a patch is installed if your client is up to date the game will start running.
Log-in Interface:
The flashy and stylish interface for Zero Online released in Patch 2772 makes the old one look like Dragon Fodder to say the least. The team working on Zero outdid themselves by creating a fast loading (fast on my computer, and believe me my 3 year old Celeron hates me) and still awesome layout, and to boot it's very easy to use.
By simply choosing a server group (currently as we are Beta testing we have one) a new screen appears with a list of servers for that group.
- Image of Group Selection:

Then by choosing a server to play in (if your signing up make sure to remember what server you did it in) and typing your username and password in you are ready to play.
After you hit "Enter" a stylish logo will appear and darken abit allowing for the loading bar (amazingly my Celeron doesn't cry at this, it loads quite fast). After you sign-in it's now up to you what to do, I advise you read my "Newbie Quest" section for the best way to start the game.

Gear Socketing is often very hard in many games, but offers the bonus of socketing a gem of many types with great powers. This is but another way you can improve your characters to make them stronger.
In this section I will run you through the various ways to Socket your gear and what gems you can socket in which gears. I will also explain what each gems effects are.
Upgrading your gears Level/Quality:
Although not proven to exist, in other TQ games by upgrading your gears quality/level it is possible the item will gain a socket. Therfor I have listed this as a possible way to attain a socket in your gear.
Using Zero Points:
You can buy items from the Zero Point Mall (or win them from various things such as the Lottery) that will instantly socket your gear.
Expansion Device: For 2700 Zero Points this item can socket the first socket in your gear, you cannot use this item to make a second socket.
Advanced Expansion Device: For 8280 Zero Points you can use this item to attain a second socket in your gears, your gear must already have a first socket before use.
- Expansion Devices

Using Cores (R&D Center):
It is possible to use cores to socket your gear, this system is the same as socketing cores with cores, however you get 4 points per core (or 20 per War Core), making the process longer.
First, click the the "Stats" button on the gear socket R&D area:

Then input the gear into the gear area (or hit Engine/Cabin for those equiped items) and then a core into the core area and hit the socket button:

Gem Effects:
- Attack Gem
These gems increase your attack, they are useful for PVP or high level monsters.

- Defence Gem
By increasing your Defence with gems you can withstand more damage and thus fight stronger players/monsters.

- EXP Gem
Your EXP gain is very crutial, by increasing your EXP gain you can level faster and becaome stronger quicker, this can also negate the need of Attack or Defence gems as when you attain higher levels you can wear/use better Armors and Weapons.

- Potency Gem
Wherever possible increasing potency is vital, even if only 1 point. Potency increases all your stats, EXP gain, Attack and Defence. The more Potency you have the stronger you are, these gems are the most expensive.

(CODE: -TSRH-)

Most online games with teams or simlar functions leave you to find them yourself, few offer a system that finds players on the same map as you with a team (or if your team is not full, without a team). Zero is one of those few with this time saving feature.
In this section I will show both Team Finding and Player Finding Functions and how they work.
- Initiation Buttons:

Team Finding:
Team Finding is a simple function to use, the team finding screen displays the Leaders name, the current team members and if applicable a double-exp icon (meaning the leader has thier team earning double-exp from a potion they used). To access ths menu simply open the team button and hit "Team".
- Team Finding Screen:

Player Finding:
Player Finding like Team Finding is a very simple task, open your team menu while the team leader and hit "Remote", this list shows the players name and level, simply hit the "invite" button to ask them to join.
- Player Finding Screen:

(CODE: -ASCM-)

Sadly no online game comes without it's scammers, though most if not all have prevention systems in place and there are also ways to protect yourself. Although Zero is only just in Beta is has it's own prevention systems in place aswell.
In this section I will talk about the prevention systems in Zero and ways to also protect yourself. I will also talking about the illegaltys in selling your account or in-game items for real-life monetry values.

Stolen Item:
If a rare item is sold at an unusual price then it won't be equipable/sellable/droppable by the person who obtained it for three days, in these three days if the item is reported stolen/scammed a GM will look into it and in certain cases the item shall be returned, please note that just because you traded a rare item to an alternate character (such as your "marketer" character) you won't lose it.

Item Binding:
When you find a rare item sometimes you want to protect it, by buying SpirtImprint from the Zero Point Mall for 68 zp's, the item can then not be traded or dropped untill an ImprintUnbind (68 zp's) is used, and then it still takes 15 days for the item to unbind after use.

Private Trading Currency Values:
While trading in a Private Trade window most items have a set value, if this value is not met and overpriced or underpriced by alot then the value being typed in will turn red, indicating a sour trade. An example of this is someone selling a Meteor for 3 million gold when it's worth around or under 2 million.

Sales Application:
When a rare item is found (such as Ultra gear or 2 socket gear) you cannot sell it untill you start the Sales Application which takes 3 days, after three days you may then trade the item.

Know the Prices:
Before buying ANY item make sure you know the rough prices for it, a conversion for ZP's to Gold is 70-100k per 1 point, and so spending 160 zp's on an Elite Armor is bascially paying 16 million gold, where as in gold you would pay 10 million!
- Afew item's general prices:
Meteors: 1 to 1.7 million (million can be refered to as KK for a short term, EG: 1kk)
+1 Armours: 600 thousand (thousand can be refered to as K for a short term, EG: 600k)
+1 Weapons: 100-200k
+1 Chomsky Particles: 1.6 million
Elite Armor: 6-9 million (based off level 100-150 items)
Elite Weapon 700 thousand to 1 million (based off level 100-150 items)

Watch the Values:
It will always happen, someone saying they will trade an item for an unnormal price (can happen with normal prices), weather in Zero Points (most common) or Gold. The Zero Point scam is simple, someone offers you high Zero Points and instead puts in Gold, you trade and open your cabin to instantly realise you were scammed, in the mean time the other player has run off and is nowhere to be seen.

"My Trade doesn't work":
Never drop your items to trade, then trade button will ALWAYS work, the scam in this is that the other player shows you the good item and drops an item that looks the same but is worthless (can be gold aswell).

Only trade in the Market:
Don't trade in a PK area, likely the other player will kill you and run off with your items.

Account/Item Selling/Trading
Please know NOW that this is COMPLETELY illegal! Anyone caught doing this will be PERMANETLY banned if caught, if you someone do this PLEASE report it.
Note: For items this only applys if being sold for real-life money. Account selling for anything is bannable.

Selling Precautions
Be careful when setting up a booth, make sure if your selling for Zero Points (or even gold) that you input the right amount, many times before people have sold things for 300 gold instead of the intended 300 Zero Points. I myself have brought AND likely sold (I don't really remember..)

(CODE: -SKL-)

Every online game has skills, this increases the gameplay to new levels by making the player choose which skill to level, by having multiple choices this makes the player think stratigically about what skills to use.
This section will contain, if not all, most skills in Zero3000. I will have a brief description, an icon and the weapon
Skill Icons
The Images of the skills will have a number below them, by matching this number with the number displayed before each skill name you will know which Image is for which skill.

Ranged Skills:
Ranged Skills are done mostly by weapon type and can be hard to choose, not only this but most Rifle Skills are auto-brought by the system for you, currently the Ranged Skill trees are not really consistant.

- Any-Gun Auto-Learn Skills:
Icons:

Skills:
1.) Blaze Pulse (Normal): This skill hits one unit, but may splash others with explosion damage, bascially this skill launchs a bomb at an enemy and causes a decent amount of damage, this skill is effective for versing low level bosses.
2.) Skyfire Shower (XP): The first XP for all ranged characters although weak it is a useful skill untill you learn the next XP skill for your choosen weapon.
- Regular Skills:
3.) Burning Sky (Normal): A good skill, each weapon has a similar skill but for the Rifle any gun can use it. Using a spread action this skill hits many enemys at the same time.
4.) Ion Storm (Normal): This skill hits one enemy, though this is a disadvantage, this skill itself is quite powerful.
5.) Ranged Attack (Normal): The standard skill of every ranged unit, though fire-based the skill is an actual ranged attack hitting enemys in a stream, making it effective untill you can use a better skill.

- Rifle Skills:
- Icons:

- Skills:
1.) Blaze Pulse (Normal): This skill hits one unit, but may splash others with explosion damage, bascially this skill launchs a bomb at an enemy and causes a decent amount of damage, this skill is effective for versing low level bosses.
2.) Skyfire Shower (XP): The first XP for all ranged characters although weak it is a useful skill untill you learn the next XP skill for your choosen weapon.
3.) Burning Sky (Normal): A good skill, each weapon has a similar skill but for the Rifle any gun can use it. Using a spread action this skill hits many enemys at the same time.
4.) Pulse Cannon (XP): Though not as strong as the final XP skill for Rifles this skill is powerful for lower-levels, this skill hits multiple enemys.
5.) Ion Storm (Normal): This skill hits one enemy, though this is a disadvantage, this skill itself is quite powerful.
6.) Blaze Star (Normal): Blaze Star is simply a stronger from of Blaze Pulse, when possible if you use Blaze Pulse just change skills to this for faster leveling.
7.) Star Storm (XP): The strongest rifle XP skill, this is the best Rifle skill and should be learned as soon as possible.
8.) Star Fall (Normal): This is the EN skill for rifles, EN skills are the strongest "normal" skills for all weapons. You need a EN Cabin to use them however.

- Machine Gun Skills:
- Icons:

- Skills:
1.) Galaxy Phantom (Normal): This skill allows you to jump over an enemy while shooting them, I personally think this is the best effect. This skill is very useful for single combat as the enemy won't be able to fight back as it will be stunned from all the firepower hitting it.
2.) Aurora Pulse (Normal): I haven't really tried this skill but I think it hits one enemy, so it would be useful for lower levels.
3.) Destructive Ray (XP): Currently the only Machine Gun XP skill (apart from Skyfire Shower, but that isn't unique to Machine Guns), this skill shoots rapid amounts of bullets in the same way as Burning Meteor but much faster and much more powerful.
4.) Burning Meteor (Normal): Like all the other similar attacks for range weapons, this is a spread skill. Hitting multiple enemys, this is a skill you should learn.
5.) Sky Storm (Normal):
6.) Aurora Explosion (Normal):
7.) Beam Suppress (Normal): This is one hell of a skill, this skill is a massive laser that has wide AoE (area-of-effect), this skill makes you want to equip an Energy Cabin! This skill is also VERY powerful.

- Flame Gun Skills:
- Icons:

- Skills:
1.) Blaze Pulse (Normal):
2.) Flame Eruption (XP): The first actual flame gun XP skill, although learnt at the same time as Skyfire Shower this skill is sightly more useful as it is is flame-based and can be effective with supportive Cores and against Flame-Weak monsters.
3.) DoomSky Fire (Normal): This skill is by far the best regular flame gun skill, similar to the Conflagation XP skill but just a little weaker (XP skills are MUCH stronger then regular skills).
4.) Flame Storm (Normal):
5.) Conflagation (XP): This is by far one of the best XP skills in-game, by using a very powerful flame and a massive stream the player can overwhelm monsters and destory them in seconds.
6.) Blaze Star (Normal):
7.) Blaze Assault (Normal):

- Frost Gun Skills:
- Icons:

- Skills:
1.) Ice Pulse (Normal):
2.) Ice Blast (XP):
3.) Ultimate Ice (Normal):
4.) Blizzard (Normal):
5.) Absolute Zero (XP):
6.) Ice Explosion (Normal):
7.) Ice Star (Normal):

- Shotgun Skills:
- Icons:

- Skills:
1.) EM Pulse (Normal):
2.) Phantom Blaze (XP):
3.) Blaze Dance (Normal):
4.) Thunder Storm (Normal):
5.) Lightning Dance (XP):
6.) EM Star (Normal):
7.) EM Explosion (Normal):

- Sniper Rifle Skills:
Currently this gun is not implemented, and thus has no skills.

- Gauss Cannon Skills:
Currently this gun is not implemented, and thus has no skills.

Melee Skills:
Melee's use the same skills for every weapon except for the level 130 ones, this makes for choosing skills easy as you only need to choose from one set and for each weapon thier is only oen level 130 skill.

Attack Skills:
- Icons:

- Skills:
1.) Lethal Thunder (XP):
2.) Thunder Strike (Normal):
3.) Leap Attack (Normal): A very useful skill for Melee characters, even at high levels. By using this skill you jump and leap to an enemy and smash them with downward force, not only does it hit one enemy but it has a small area-of-effect and hits multiple enemys.
4.) Rapid Restore (Normal, Support Unit Only):
5.) Death Laser (Normal): As the name implys this skill is a laser, this skill can hit many enemys at once but can only hit those that the "laser" passes through and as the laser is straight, it limits the ranged damage.
6.) Falcon Attack (Normal):
7.) - (Normal, Support Unit Only):
8.) Thor's Rage (XP): This skill launchs your own mech at the enemys you aim at. Causing mass damage this is a very useful Melee attack skill.
9.) Nebula Crusher (Normal): One of the best Melee skills, while it eats alot of your power it is a very strong skill. Hitting your weapon on the floor causing a shock-wave is all directions anything hit has mass damage taken.
10.) Whirlwind (Normal): Similar to Thor's Rage, this skill spins your mech in a 360 rotation towards an enemy, this skill can hit many enemys.
11.) - (Normal, Support Unit Only):
12.) Debris Thunder (Normal):
13.) Thunder Kill (XP): The best XP attack skill for Melee, by using a wave like action of your weapon all the enemys from a wide distance infront of you will be hit with mass damage.
14.) Star Chain Chop (Normal):

Weapon Skills:
- Icons:

- Skills:
1.) Star Pierce (Spear):
2.) Fire Chop (Scythe):
3.) Burning Chop (Saber):
4.) Concussion Blow (Hammer):
5.) Sonic Pierce (1-H Sword):
6.) Star Double Chop (2-H Sword):

Axe
Currently this weapon is not implemented, and thus has no skills.

Many online games celebrate special occasions such as Easter, Christmas, Birthdays (such as the games first whole year) and Valentines. Some even celebrate more!
In this section as new events are released for special occasions I will add them here, I will define the year of each event so that you won't be confused.

Christmas:
- 2007:
The Christmas Events for this year were mainly free items and Zero Points, some feel that the Event was not as good as others they have had before, some believe they were good concepts but could have used some tweaking.
-- Free Christmas Tree Lottery:
Every hour at the co-ordinates 263, 914 in the SteelWarship, players were able to talk to the massive christmas tree and obtain a free item, while mostly just +1 weapons some few players even recieved Ultra gears! This was deemed one of the better parts of the Event.
-- 60 Free Christmas Presents:
Every hour 60 Christmas Gifts randomlly spawned in the SteelWarship, the first player to find and click one of these gifts obtained a random item like they would from the Chrismas Tree Lottery, some got Ultra gears and some other Shopping Mall items.
-- Evil Snowmen:
At 09:00-09:30, 14:00-14:30 and 19:00-19:30 (PST) everyday by talking to Marion at 522, 798 in the SteelWarship if you were above level 120 you would be teleported to TitanIceField and be able to fight Snowmen for free Zero Points, some obtained 1 and some up to 30. This was said to be a bad part of the Event as they didn't spawn/drop enough to be worth killing. While in the Chinese version they dropped up to 3000 zero points.
-- Fireworks:
This part of the Event was for some fun with no real rewards, by talking to the Christmas Officer David at 266, 897 on the SteelWarship you could buy FireWorks for 10, 000 gold. By then finding one of the many "Emitter" NPCs (some close to "David") you could then set off your Fireworks for some nice effects.

(CODE: -MAP-)

Every game has Areas, the basic playing field, be that an FPS to and RPG. The characters must have somewhere to walk, areas have many things such as Trees and Buildings. As for Maps, more recently most bigger games include maps so that you can plan how and where you will play the game.
In this section I will list all areas that you can visit, from general areas (such as Steelwar Ship& Blaze Ocean), to the quest and event areas (such as Spacecraft Mission areas). Along with this I will show the maps for each of these areas and list what you can do there. Some places may not be listed as they are not needed.
General Maps:
- Steelwar Ship:

The Steelwar Ship is a place for all players, currently it is the only "city" in Zero, this area has the first monsters in the game and the Market. The actual "Steelwar Ship" is divided in two, an area for the market and an area for other things such as a ammo/repair-kit and equipment sellers.
-- Market

The Market is where players can gather and sell/buy items, participate in many events such as Lottery and also join Spacecraft Missions.

Blaze Ocean:

Earth Scar:

Mars Wasteland:

Moon Fortress:
-- Alien Moon:

- Titan Iceland:

Titan Ice Field is for players 127 to 157, with 127, 137, 147 monsters and Zone Quests leveling up is made much easier. Also the level 137 monsters here start dropping Sapphire Crystals, they are one better then RoseQuartz.
-- Titan Dungeon:

Sea Floor:

Green Planet:
- Dungeon A:
- Dungeon B:

Most guides have a section like this, to solve many of the same questions being asked many times, the answers may be viewed here
Here I will have questions that are frequently asked, and if asked to other questions that you may ask me

Why do you do this?
Simple, I find helping out newbies is fun. I didn't originally do this for the prizes but it was an extra encentive to get stuck into the guide (I had alot of work already done before the contest started).
You missing something important!
If you think this guide is missing something, feel free to contact me anyway you can. PM'ing this account is fine.
Your Website, will it contain all this Information?
Yes, though I hardly work on it, once I feel confident this guide is "complete" I will be able to transfer all the information over (at the moment the guide is updated very often and so updating both types of the guide is time consuming).
How much more will you add?
I will add all new features and additions Zero goes through. So you could say, I will stop when I stop playing.. which won't be for awhile!
How can I contact you?
Timmy or Bane of the Moon server are my Characters, additionally you can eamil me at warriortimmyowns@hotmail.com (Note: I made that ages ago and it still embarasses me, I keep it because of my contacts on MSN lol).
What are some of the "facts" of this guide?
There are around 40 "guides" and 6 additonal sections, in total 46 sections to-date. There around around 196 images! So please be patient and let them load tongue.gif. There are over 22,000 words, this is as the title states, a "Massive guide to Zero".

(CODE: -CRED-)

Every Guide has Credits, I mean common let's be fair xD. Commonly Credits appear at the bottom as they are then easily read, in guides like this mainly Credits go to those who helps with Errors, mis-information, Images and just General things that can be added.
In this section I will.. well.. Credit those that helped me? I was always good at explaining things xD.

Images:
While I did create practially all my own Images there might be afew that I have copied (possibly changed abit) but asked for premisssion from the owners, also those Images that I have been told to update (such as composing gear, which I will when it's fixed) will have their name mentioned here.

Information:
Those people that have given me Information will be added here along with a breif description of the info.
- Kalya:
Kalya gave me Information on both the Dungeon Bosses (such as spawning times and item drops) and Mark Bosses (such as how they only drop CrystalPacks when they are green-name).
- Angelx:
Angelx made a thread showing the maximum output of all main programs for each core and I used this information in this guide.
- Legoz:
Legoz posted that you can view all Maximum outputs for Auxilary programs from the Core Synthesis NPC by clicking "All Programs".

Corrections:
Those that find things can can be corrected (be that text, images or information errors) will be added here.

Informing others of my Guide:
The title practically says it, bascially Credits to those that have the link to my Guide in their signature and other such things. (I know there are others, please don't be annoyed.. it the forums weren't being transfered at this time you would be here xD, I remember these two as they both PM'd me recently.
- Kalya:
Kalya has included a link to my Guide in her signature and so deserves Credit for helping it me get it some views.
- Legoz:
Legoz has included a link to my Guide in his signature and so deserves Credit for helping me get it some views.

(CODE: -LINK-)

Every guide normally has Links to specific websites containing either used content or what the guide is about and so forth, this section is normally located at the very bottom of the guide and as such I have placed it there.
This section will simply include the Websites I think players will find useful that are about Zero.
Zero Official Website:
Link: http://www.zero3000.com
Author: TQ Digital.
Description: The main website of Zero, this is where all news for Zero is located including: Patches, Upcoming Events, Contests and Additional Changes.
Zero Official Forums:
Link: http://forum.91.com/zero/
Author: TQ Digital.
Description: Simply the Official Community Forums for all servers and players to post in and talk about recent events and suggestions to both the game and real-life events.
TQ Digital US Website:
Link: http://us.tqdigital.com/
Author: Netdragon Inc.
Description: The main website for all TQ games, though not updated as often as each game site themselves it includes all major changes such as the recent Chinese Conquer being updated to the latest version.
Zero Official Database (Actualy un-official xD)
Link: http://www.freewebs....abase/index.htm

Yes, unfortunetly they have. However the items still go in exactly the same positions, you will know if you have the correct box by choosing the same options as the picture and one of the boxes being named "Chomsky Part" and the other "Gear", also "Gear" has two buttons "Cabin Bonus" and "Engine Bonus" overlapping it.
I'm sure next/a future patch it will be fixed, I'll add it to my guide to for those that will get confused (tomorrow, it's late now).
I'm gonna have to change Images alot as they keep updating/changing Interfaces so please post here if you don't understand something and I will help, chances are the system still works the same though.

Sweet guide, nice work timmy. You might wanna add that moon bosses drop only crystal packs if they are green. If they are red or black, they drop quality items too (elites and sockets). The biggest the level difference between the player and the boss, the greatest chance of a good drop. There are such bosses in Blaze ocean too.

How in the world do we rate guides? >.>

Thanks for that, all the comments help. After I update the sections needing info I'll be done untill they release new things.. though untill then i'll make new banners, they need a facelift lol. And some nicer formatting (might use the rich text editor for it).
